Department of Environment (Lesotho)

The Department of Environment formely known as the National Environment Secretariat (NES) was established in April 1994 and is currently under the Ministry of Tourism, Environment and Culture. The Department of Environment is a lead  agency for  environmental management and promotes socio-economic and environmental sustainable development.

To assist in its wildfire monitoring efforts, the Department of Environment received a Fire Monitoring Station from the AMESD SADC THEMA project on 5 May 2011.
